The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Director of Legal and Public Affairs Praxedes Tororey has retired after attaining the age of 60.

The poll agency’s communication manager Andrew Limo confirmed that Tororey has will be leaving the commission.

He said she is through with all formal procedures in the commission setting pace for her retirement.

“Yes it is true that Ms Tororey has retired,” Limo said according to Daily Nation on Friday.

Asked if she retired out of pressure by the opposition, he answered in the negative.

“It is just coincidence that her retirement time has come at this particular time when there is heightened political activity ahead of the fresh poll,” said Limo.

Tororey has been a thorn in the flesh for opposition since August 8 polls were held.

Together with other secretariat staff, she has been blamed for electoral malpractice.

NASA in its “irreducible minimum” requirements for IEBC ahead of repeat polls had recommended for her sacking together with 11 others including CEO Ezra Chiloba.

Others include voter registration and electoral operations director Immaculate Kasait, head of operations Betty Nyabuto, ICT director James Muhati and Commissioner Abdi Guliye.
