Forty percent of Kenyans have said they would vote for Raila Odinga while 49 percent would vote for Uhuru Kenyatta, a new poll commissioned by Radio Africa Group shows.

In the May poll, Raila has worked his way up, as a similar poll conducted in March showed that he only enjoyed support of 24 percent while Uhuru got 51 percent.

Raila’s increase in popularity is attributed to undecided persons who reduced marginally. In March when Radio Africa conducted a similar poll, undecided persons stood at 20 percent.

In the latest poll, they have drastically reduced to 10 percent.

The poll comes after he was named NASA’s flag bearer. NASA coalition held a mega rally at Uhuru Park on April 27 where they announced their flag bearer.

Kalonzo Musyoka will deputize him while other principals Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Isaac Ruto will be in-charge of various ministries in government.

His naming may have boosted confidence in undecided persons who said they would vote for him.

Prior to his naming, Kenyans had lost confidence with the coalition for failing to name their flag bearer many months after Jubilee named Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto as Jubilee  flag bearers.

The Radio Africa Survey was conducted in 28 counties between May 2 and May 14 through Computer Aided Telephone Interview (CATI) and had 3, 438 respondents all aged above 18.

It is said to have a margin error of 1.7 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent.
