Gideon Moi and DP Ruto battle of words continues

By Pharis Kinyua: Jamhuri News

The rift between KANU Chairman Gideon Moi and Deputy President William Ruto continues to widen.

On Saturday, the Baringo Senator issued statements seen to renew rivalry with the DP.

He attacked him saying that he always thinks of his name more than he thinks about his wife.

“I guess every time Ruto is free with his wife he is ever singing my name Gideon, Gideon Gideon…I think this forces him to sing my name even in his bedroom,” said the Senator in Eldama-Ravine as quoted by the Star.

He said Ruto’s bid for Rift Valley political supremacy is in no way directed to benefit the people but for his personal gain.

Moi said that Ruto has been working towards getting him out of politics so that he can have it easy in 2022.

“The DP simply wants me to vanish in politics so that he succeeds President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.”

He said he has been visiting Baringo many times than any other part of Rift Valley to sell his 2022 bid.

Moi said that in the event he is voted out on August 8, Ruto will not visit Baringo because his agenda will have been fulfilled.

“Mark it right from me that once you vote me out and replace me with another Senator in August, you will never see Ruto stepping foot here,” he said.

The two leaders have been engaged in battles for a long time and cannot see each other eye to eye.

At one point, it is alleged that Ruto referred to Moi as an uncircumcised man and also said that he is more educated than him.

Theirs is a battle to control Rift Valley politics.

But pundits argues that Ruto still has the region on his palm against Moi who supposedly rides on his father- Retired President Daniel Moi’s goodwill.
