Aukot unveils 22-man shadow Cabinet to keep Jubilee in check

Thirdway Alliance leader Dr Ekuru Aukot on Thursday unveiled the outfit’s 22-man shadow Cabinet.

He said the party’s nominees are professionals of high integrity.

“You will see well educated Kenyans with a fresh train of thoughts,” Aukot said during a presser Thursday in Nairobi.

He said his party will not recycle Cabinet appointees. “You will not see any recycled appointees in this Cabinet.”

Further, he noted, Thirdway Alliance is the government in waiting and it will change Kenya’s political landscape.

“The current political atmosphere is threatening the existence of the very country we all claim to love in equal measure…[the shadow cabinet] will change the tone and character of Kenyan politics,” averred Aukot.

He said the party has already drafted a formula to rid Kenya’s Parliament of over representation.

Aukot remarked that they are waiting to have sit down with IEBC and deliberate on how they will collect five million signatures to allow for a referendum.

In his proposal, he wants to reduce the number of MPs from the current 290 to 194.

Aukot was among seven Kenyans who contested for the Presidency in the August 8 polls and in the repeat elections in October.

The constitutional lawyer came third and garnered 21,333 votes.

President Uhuru Kenyatta won the polls with  7,483,895 votes Raila, who withdrew from the race came in second with 73,228.
