President Uhuru Kenyatta has banned political rallies for the next 60 days.

The Head of State in his Wednesday address said that as leaders, they must give lead by example.

He cited the 16 per cent positivity rate for COVID-19 in October as a major disaster in the country.

“This is four times what it was in September. 38 days later it is most unfortunate that we have experienced a reversal and a serious one at that,” he said.

The President also announced new curfew hours. The dusk to dawn curfew will now begin at 10 pm to 4 am.

Uhuru also directed that all bars and eateries close at 9pm effective Wednesday.

On the contentious issue of school reopening, the President said that all schools will reopen in January 2021.

In his new directives, he also announced that civil servants above the age of 58 work from home.

In the same vein, he directed that all social functions be limited to an attendance equal to a third of the total space available.
