Samuel Karanja, a senior citizen from Kiharu, Murang’a County has shocked villagers after preparing his funeral in advance.

Karanja prepared his grave, named it “Kumenya” and wrote his eulogy. He says that will save his family the hustle that comes with funeral preparations.

“I do not want to bother people at my funeral, most people bother people with their demise but that will not be me,” he told Inooro TV.

His grave is a single-standing cavern with beautiful flowers on the side.

Karanja has instructed his family not to have a cross or flowers during his interment. He directed that his body be covered with soil.

He went ahead to print a photo to be placed on his grave. His eulogy, he said, is the best version of him because no one else knows him better than he does.

Karanja has been the talk of his village for years now over his decisions in life. The old man is always shirtless even in rainy seasons.

Mrs Karanja, his wife, said that her husband work on their farm shirtless and like it even more when it is raining. “He never wears a shirt, he says he hates warmth and even when he is working in the shamba, you will see him shirtless” she said.

Karanja too said that his body has developed resistance against cold and irritation from carrying fodder for his cows on his bareback.
