A lobby group consisting professionals from around the country has threatened to take NASA to the ICC incase violence erupts before or after Thursday repeat Presidential elections.

The Council of professionals (CPK) Chaired by former Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba on Monday said in the event that they make statements that could lead to violence during or after the repeat polls, they will take NASA to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Namwamba said they have dispatched a team comprising researchers and observers who will to “monitor, record and document any acts of violence” during Thursday polls.

This will act as evidence which they will forward to The Hague based criminal court.

“We have set up a command centre where we shall receive live updates of what will be going on across the country, those who want to boycott the elections can do so but they should not interfere with the rights of other Kenyans,” he said as told by daily Nation.

He said CPK has hitherto lodged a case Raila Odinga, his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka and NASA’s lead counsel and Siaya Senator James Orengo.

The three, said Namwamba, have uttered statements and promoted activities which could trigger violence, crimes against humanity and genocide.

CPK will also petition the UN Security Council, the Peace and Security Council of the African Union and Office of the Rapporteur on Genocide to collect evidence to hold those responsible for violence to account.

The professional body said Kenyans have a right to vote and that the Constitution allows IEBC to document zero vote return as acceptable.

Namwamba added it was selfish for NASA to boycott elections when it was them who moved to the Supreme Court and led to nullification of August 8 polls.

“It was Nasa that went to Supreme Court, occasioning the repeat of the presidential elections. Calling for the boycott is in contempt of the Supreme Court ruling, disrespect for the rule of law and the Constitution.”
