Jenny Too, daughter to deceased politician Mark Too, caused a stir at the Uasin Gishu County Assembly Thursday with her deep mastery and coherence of the queen’s language.

Too, a nominated Jubilee MCA stunned her colleagues in one of her contributions on the floor of the house to a point Kipkenyo MCA Hillary Rono stood on a point of order asking her to “slow down on her English”.

Rono said they do not have the same capacity to grasp the language in the speed with which she speaks with.

He called on Speaker David Kiplagat to ask Too to speak slowly

In his direction, the Speaker told Too according to the Star: “I don’t know, Honourable Jenny, if it’s possible that you slow down or something like that so that your colleagues can hear you clearly.”

Too, a Daystar graduate apologized and told her colleagues that she will be considerate.

“Mr Speaker, I apologise to members. My English can sometimes be very fast but I understand and will comply with the request,” she said.

She was supporting a motion sponsored by Cheptiret MCA urging Governor Jackson Mandago’s administration to reward the county’s outstanding farmers.

“Mr Speaker Sir, the angle I chose to look is that of a young man who wakes up every morning and plants cabbages that are sold all the way to Kiambu, and maybe the gentleman makes Sh1,000 in a month.

“It would be great and humbling to see such people recognised as they contribute to feeding the nation,” she noted.

Jubilee nominated her to the Assembly in honour of her father who was a renowned politician during the Moi era.

Mark Too passed on last year.
