Sharp divisions have emerged in the Orange Democratic Movement Party (ODM) following a proposal to nominate former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto to Parliament.

Ruto is being groomed to assume the role of Leader of Minority in Parliament.

According to Daily Nation, ODM allied politicians said when the news was broken in several of their meetings, it was not received well.

They said it was legally untenable. “We know it is not legally possible but let us wait for the IEBC response.”

But it has emerged that the party has already written to the IEBC seeking to replace one of its nominees, Knut secretary-general Wilson Sossion.

Ruto is said to have asked for the position personally after he was floored by Jubilee’s Joyce Laboso in Bomet County race.

ODM Chairman John Mbadi did not respond to the claims.

Ruto told Citizen Digital that he is ready to work for Kenyans should he be nominated.
