I don’t fear even when Uhuru withdraws my security, I’m entitled to security under the law -Raila

NASA Presidential Chief Raila Odinga has maintained he is not perturbed by having his security detail withdrawn by government.

He says his course to push for reforms at the IEBC will continue. Raila notes he is not afraid.

“We woke up and found the security was not there. That is a non-issue and of no consequence. I don’t fear,” he told a press conference in Nairobi on Tuesday according to the Star.

“I am not here because of their security…my biggest security is the people of Kenya. Under the law I am entitled to the security, not the sympathy of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

We are not regretting that they have taken the security. We will be here to stand with the people of Kenya regardless of the consequences,” stated Raila.

His security detail together with that of Kalonzo Musyoka was withdrawn on Monday evening ahead of NASA’s anti-IEBC protest.

The GSU officers providing security are reported to have been recalled to GSU camp and later deployed in North Eastern.

But Police Spokesperson Charles Owino said it was a move to scale down and not what has been touted as intentionally withdrawing the security detail to punish the two NASA principals.

ODM Chairman in a separate press conference issued a 24-hour ultimatum to government to second officers for the two officers.

“We are dismayed that Jubilee withdrew the bodyguards of our principals. This sets a dangerous precedent. Should anything happen to them we shall blame. Uhuru is solely responsible for their security as the current holder of power,” he said.
