Jubilee Party has handed singer Charles Kanyi alias Jaguar a win in the party nominations for Starehe Constituency.

The party’s National Elections Board Appeals Tribunal made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon.

As soon as the declaration was made, Jaguar was handed the party certificate before his supporters, who had pitched camp at Jubilee’s Party headquarters in Pangani who then broke in song and dance.

The board in making its decision cited that Jaguar, the complainant provided substantial evidence to back his claim of being rigged.

“Based on the evidence adduced before the Tribunal by the complainant, which the 1st respondent could not substantially back, this tribunal finds that the complainant’s evidence on alterations of his results garnered at the tallying centre is so compelling that it is clear that he had won in the nomination exercise as per the results at the polling stations whose alterations at the tallying centre we have found to have happened,” read part of the party’s ruling.

It further read: “Accordingly, the tribunal hereby overturns the results as declared by the Returning Officer Starehe Constituency declaring Hon William Maina Kamanda as the winner and declares Charles Njagua Kanyi as the winner and candidate for Jubilee Party Member of Parliament for Starehe Constituency.”

Jaguar while expressing his joy after the ruling by the party said that together with his supporters, do not have anything personal against Kamanda except that he tried to rig him out.
