A Kenyan teen from East Boston was on Sunday shot dead and his body dumped by the roadside under unclear circumstances.
Duncan Ketter,21, together with a female acquaintance, got in an SUV and found three others inside. They were transacting a sale when Thorus O’Brien surfaced from the rear seat of the vehicle. O’Brien is said to have disrupted the teens’ sale by pulling a gun and shooting Ketter dead. O’Brien, together with other teens in the vehicle drove away and dumped Ketter’s body by the roadside, forcing his female acquaintance out of the vehicle as well.
Ketter, who had no criminal record according to police detectives, was not involved in the business but had accompanied his female friend who was allegedly robbed. Ketter was shot after verbally protecting his acquaintance from being robbed.
According to CBS Boston, Ketter is the hero who made national headlines after saving a man who fell onto the Orange Line tracks at Boston’s North Station in 2014.
O’Brien was ordered held without bail at his arraignment Tuesday in East Boston Municipal Court. A 16-year-old was also charged with armed robbery in the same incident.
Central Assembly of God Church described Ketter as a beloved young man in the church.

we the family of Ketter as a whole with our Parent Stem of Kaburet/Cheboin clan, do hereby come to you for assistance.
That unavoidable hand of death has struck our family and robbed us of a young energetic man with a bright promising future.
Our Son Duncan Ketter had just finished his High School at Madison and had been enrolled to join one of the Colleges here in Boston Massachusetts beginning from January 2018.
While he was waiting to join the College, Duncan was working for Hertz Car Rental Company with a promising future. He has left us unceremoniously with our heart broken.
We are therefore asking that you extend your kind gesture in helping us meet the expense of taking his remains back to Kenya for his final resting.

We stand with the Ketter family and are committed to walk with them through this difficult journey. As people of faith we believe the message in the gospel of Matthew that announces the coming of Christ with these words, “they will call him Immanuel (which means `God with us’).” We believe that through Jesus Christ, God is with us and will carry us through this time of great sorrow” reads part of the message.
