Government has accused the opposition of bribing IEBC and Judiciary to shatter October 26 repeat polls.

Through Government spokesman Eric Kiraithe, government said there is a conspiracy between opposition and the two institutions.

Kiraithe said they are investigating it because they have realized opposition has a conspiracy to subvert the constitution.

“This scheme is in full gear and one commissioner has already betrayed Kenya, picked their loot and is now an icon in the conspirators scheme of things,” said Kiraithe as quoted by the Star.

He was referring to Roselyn Akombe who resigned on Thursday. Akombe served as IEBC commissioner for nine months.

He added that NASA is coercing commissioners to make public statements that IEBC has no capacity to conduct credible repeat polls.

Akombe in an interview with BBC in New York where she resides said that IEBC is under siege.

She said with its currents manpower, the poll agency cannot conduct free polls.

Akombe cited that the commission is divided along political party lines which make it difficult to conduct credible polls.

Kiraithe in reference to these statements said that “the compromised commissioner has continued issuing private and public statements to the effect that powerful forces have been interfering with their work even as they continue clandestine engagements with the conspirators.”

Kiraithe said Judiciary and IEBC have been bribed by opposition to do as NASA wishes so that businesses are crippled and cause political crisis.

In turn, the international community can come in and give a solution.

“The bribery is to induce them to give court orders and interpretations to the law which will ensure that holding a presidential election in Kenya becomes perpetually untenable,” said the Government spokesman.

He added: “The key pranks of the plan is bribery of compromised office holders in the judiciary and IEBC with huge sums of money, use of violence to prevent Kenyans from voting.”

Kiraithe defended government against accusations of executing innocent Kenyans during anti-IEBC demos in Nyanza and Nairobi.

He said NASA has been acquiring firearms illegally with the aim to execute this devilish plan.

“…they issue them to hired criminals and use them to maim and kill vulnerable members of the society under circumstances where our police officers will be blamed.

“The maneuver aims at indoctrinating parts of the public against the rule of law and the government.”
