By Jamhuri News Reporter

Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery has asked Kenyans to maintain peace and assured them that his administration is prepared to ensure law and order during the August 8 elections. Nkaissery said the police will remain nonpartisan, adding that anyone caught disrupting peace will face the law.

“I want to be very very clear that nobody will be allowed to threaten the stability of this country,” Nkaissery said.

Speaking at the Intercontinental Hotel during the 2017 Outstanding Police Service Awards, Nkaissery said that measures have been put in place to fully secure the country, and that police will be ready to respond if needed by any party participating in the elections.

“Whether you are in Jubilee or NASA, we will take appropriate and legal action on anybody threatening the security of this country.”

He added that the government has provided the police with all the required tools such as armament, and communication equipment to ensure elections are fair and credible. He added that the government continues to provide the best equipment and training to the police.

The CS said that police officers are working day and night to provide maximum security to Kenyans and properties.
