The government on Wednesday announced the commencement of probe into the ‘swearing-in’ of NASA principal Raila Odinga who took oath at Uhuru Park as the ‘People’s president’.

Addressing the press, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i said that Tuesday’s swearing-in of the opposition leader ”was a well-choreographed attempt to subvert or overthrow the legally constituted government of the Republic of Kenya,”.

The CS said appropriate measures will be taken upon completion of the investigation which he said will extend to all those who were involved in planning and executing the oath.

“The government is committed to the rule of law, will not accept subversion and we will act decisively,” said Matiang’i. “We will arrest those we need to and take them before a magistrate without question.”

Matiang’i said that NASA’s  National Resistance Movement (NRM) had ferried criminals to massacre innocent Kenyans during the ceremony, with plans to blame it on the police and accuse them of brutality.

“We took the decision to exercise restraint to stop criminals by withdrawing police officers and we are so grateful to God because a massacre was thwarted,” said Matiang’i.
