Former Meru Governor Peter Munya has shifted his political allegiance to Jubilee, a few days after his dalliance to the National Super Alliance.

In a statement signed by other PNU members, Munya pledged to support President Uhuru Kenyatta in the repeat polls.

“It has been agreed that in the interest of the country we support Uhuru. We therefore urge our members to campaign and support Uhuru,” read part of the statement according to PSCU.

President Uhuru Kenyatta welcomed Munya to Jubilee camp.

“[I] met with Jubilee-affiliate PNU chairman Peter Munya and other officials at State House. The former Meru Governor stated that after consultations with party loyalists he and PNU would support me in the Oct 17 repeat elections,” said the President after a meeting with the former Council of Governors at State House.

Last week, Munya pledged to campaign for NASA saying he could not Join Jubilee because they are the same people who stole his victory on August 8.

He said: “I want to be on the right side of history. We want to end the culture of stealing elections in Kenya. I can’t join hands with those who stole my election.”

His successor Kiraitu Murungi dismissed him as a NASA mole.

He said Munya’s move to support NASA has ascertained he was working with NASA even before elections.

“The move has vindicated our earlier statements that Mr. Munya was a NASA mole. He was hiding behind Uhuru to gain political mileage,” said the Meru County boss.

“We know that his campaigns were financed by Nasa and that is why there were frequent trips by Raila, Wetang’ula, Joho and even Mudavadi and they always came and urged Meru people to vote for Munya,” added Kiraitu.
