NASA wants all operations of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) devolved.

The Raila Odinga led opposition outfit wants each county to independently manage it election affairs including that of the President.

This, said Co-principal Musalia Mudavadi, will allow the commission to work without coercion from officials at its headquarters in Nairobi.

He said if this happens, rigging and other electoral malpractices will be a thing of the past.

In an interview with the Star, Mudavadi called for a probe on IEBC officials saying, “a small club of people is holding on to power to satisfy individual interests at the expense of taxpayers.

He said those found culpable should be dealt with according to the law.

Mudavadi further stated that NASA will not relent on its push for electoral reforms.

“Kenya must have a leadership that respects the rule of law, promotes electoral justice and has the interests of Kenyans at heart.”

NASA is pushing for radical changes within the governance sector. They are advocating for a referendum to address shortcomings of the current Constitution.

Through the National Resistance Movement (NRM), NASA hopes to achieve its set agenda which includes dislodging President Uhuru Kenyatta from power.

NASA is also keen on changing the Constution to introduce Parliamentary system. They say this will address evils of exclusion and ethnicity in government.

“The current administration is a reluctant partner in pushing for justice and is busy fighting devolution and the Constitution to advance its interests. We’ll ensure the interests of Kenyans are achieved,” added Mudavadi.
