President Uhuru Kenyatta seems to be walking in the footsteps of retired President Mwai Kibaki with his recent abrupt move to shift base at his Harambee House office.

The President during his first term has been a common figure at State House where he has conducted much of his Presidential undertakings.

But in his second term which is still under threat given there is a petition challenging his victory a Supreme Court, the President is a common figure at Harambee House.

Kibaki also did the same in his second term. He moved his operating base to the Office of the President which he occasionally visited in his first term.

His first appointment everyday at the office is Deputy President William Ruto.

State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu in response to the change of guard told Nairobi News that they have adjusted themselves.

“Harambee House is the Office of the President.  He often works from there. He often works from State House,” he said.

His first high-ranking meeting at Harambee House was with Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko where they extensively deliberated on re-generation of Nairobi City.

The national government will partner with the County Government of Nairobi in bolstering the economy and social status of the city. It is said to cost billions of shillings.

ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru is pivotal in this new development for Nairobi.
