RAILA: No elections on 26th Oct. until we are consulted, they want to give Uhuru a birthday present

Speaking to journalists on Friday, opposition leader Raila Odinga opposed the newly set date for the repeat election, saying that the date was given by Safran Morpho, a service provider for KIEMS that they want to be kicked out.

Raila, who was accompanied by Kalonzo and Wetangula, argued that there were no consultations in arriving at October 26th, the date given by the IEBC on Wednesday.

“IEBC must invite all stakeholders for consultations. They gazetted the first date without consultation and they have made the same mistake again,” he said at the NASA Secretariat office in Lavington, Nairobi.

Raila also said that the new date is coinciding with President Uhuru’s birthday, and it might serve as a birthday gift by IEBC.

”It also happens to be Uhuru Kenyatta’s birthday, so they want to give him a birthday present.” Said Raila

The Opposition said they had only been briefed about IEBC’s proposal for an October 24 date, but Jubilee proposed the approved date which coincides with President’s 56th birthday.
