Deputy President William Ruto has responded to assertions by opposition leader Raila Odinga that he can only win in 2022 with the latter’s help.
On Thursday, Raila while speaking at Kipkelion East said Ruto’s 2022 Presidential ambition would not materialize without his support.
He urged him to rejoin him because it is possible he will be rigged out, reminiscent of what has happened to him [Raila] thrice.
He also told the DP that support from Mt Kenya is not guaranteed because they are already plotting on how to push him out.
“My election victory has been stolen since 2007 and I would like to tell the Deputy President William Ruto that he will not ascend to the presidency without my political support,” said Raila.
However, Ruto in response posed why and how Raila managed to change his mind to support his 2022 candidacy instead of supporting his political ally, Kalonzo Musyoka.
“We thought Raila signed an agreement to support Kalonzo. Has he since realized that Ruto is a better candidate than Kalonzo,” the DPs Spokesperson David Mugonyi remarked as quoted by Capital FM.
The DP’s Spokesperson said Raila’s proclamation serves to show that he is convinced Ruto is the best candidate for the Presidency in 2022.
However, went on Mugonyi, Ruto is not interested in politicking at this moment because he is focused “with President Uhuru – to deliver on key planks of Jubilees agenda for the country-food security, universal healthcare, housing, job creation, value addition and manufacturing and education.”
