Following outrage on social media after a viral video surfaced showing a street urchin raping an unknown woman along Mto Lane off River Road in Nairobi, police have arrested the suspect.
The man is in custody together with 10 others in connection to the heinous.
Nairobi County Police Boss Joseph Ole Tito said they are yet to trace the victim. He appealed to her to present herself and record a statement in relation to the incident.
Tito said the suspect was well known to the woman but what he did was outright wrong.
“In as much as they knew each other, the manner in which it happened is wrong,” he told Nairobi News.

Nairobi Director of Criminal Investigation Kamwende Ireri said what is seen in the video is deeply disturbing.
“What happened to the woman was wrong and we are urging her, wherever she is, to come to my office and record a statement so that she can help us in getting the men behind it,” said the Nairobi DCI boss.
The undated video was recorded by an unknown person. It showed the woman frantically crying out for help while four other street urchins cheered on their colleagues as he sexually molested the woman.
She is seen trying so hard to resist but the man and his accomplices threaten to kill her forcing her to resign to fate.
A young man by the name ‘Baite’ going by the two and a half minute clip overpowers the woman and goes ahead to force himself on her.
Central head of DCI Samuel Kobina said a team of detectives have been deployed to pursue the matter right to the end.
