Supreme Court Justice Isaac Lenaola threatens to sue Dennis Itumbi, Standard Media and Safaricom

Supreme Court Justice Isaac Lenaola

Supreme Court Judge Isaac Lenaola is threatening to sue the State House Digital Director Dennis Itumbi over what he called defamatory tweets and posts.

Justice Lenaola, through his lawyer Mr. Kipkorir, has given Itumbi 72hrs to delete all the social media posts about Lenaoa and apologize or face the law.

The justice threatens to seek an award of punitive damages and use the award until he retires at the age of 70, which is about 20yrs.

Judge Lenaola has also urged the Standard Media Group to apologize to him for publishing a story on September 19, alleging that he contacted some lawyers and agents allied to NASA coalition during the hearing of the presidential petition.

The justice argues that the newspaper published the article before the petition was filed by Derrick Malika Ngumu of Angaza Empowerment Network.

Lenaola was among the majority decision which nullified President Uhuru’s election.

The judge is also asking Safaricom to confirm whether the company indeed provided call-logs to Mr. Ngumu, or whether any other third parties accessed information in his mobile phone.

He said he wants the information to defend himself before the SJC where the petition was filed. He added that if Safaricom fails to cooperate, he will have no choice but to enjoin the company in the JSC petition.
