Three IEBC Commissioners have resigned citing lack of faith in the commission’s chair Wafula Chebukati leadership.

The three, Vice Chair Consolata Maina, Ambassador Paul Kurgat and Margaret Mwachanya on Monday tendered their resignation letters.

In a joint statement, they said Chebukati has gallantly failed in his job.

“The chairman has in several instances failed to be rye steady and stable hand to steer the commission ship,” read part of the statement according to Nairobi News.

Their resignation comes hours before Chebukati chaired a crisis meeting to iron out differences within the commission.

It also comes after IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba’s suspension which he failed to block through the courts on Friday.

Chebukati suspended Chiloba for three months to allow for investigations into flawed procurement processes which he pointed an accusing finger on the latter.

Maina together with Kurgat are reportedly said not to have agreed with the Chairman’s decision to suspend Chiloba.

Their resignation further throws IEBC into disarray.
