A middle aged woman from Uasin Gishu County has named her triplets after leaders-elect in the county.

Winnie Chebet Ngetich, 36, delivered a boy and two girls on August 8. Since she could not make it to vote, she decided to name her children after leaders who she would have voted for.

She named her new born son after Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, her two daughters after Women Representative Gladys Shollei and Turbo MP Janet Rotich.

Incidentally, the three emerged winners in the various seats they were vying for.

The three leaders according to Ngetich had promised to address squatters’ problem which is why she would have voted for them.

“I would have voted for the three leaders if I got the chance but after I delivered the children, I thought it wise to name them after those I supported,” said Ngetich as quoted by the Star.

The triplets have increased her children to nine. She has twins as well.

“My twins are aged five years and God has also blessed me with the triplets to add to my other children,” she said.

She lives as a squatter on land belonging to Moi Barracks recruits training school in Eldoret.

Together with her kids, they live in a grass thatched house at Kamagut village.

Ngetich remarked that at one point after delivering the twins, she contemplated killing them due to poverty.

But she learnt that God will always provide for them.

“I told myself that God knows why he has blessed me with such a family and that he will provide for them.”

However, with nine kids, she had received her blessings and she will now use family planning.

“I feel strong. Doctors said I can give birth as many times as I want. But I now content with the bundles of joy I have.”

Her husband, Samson Ngetich who works in the farms around as a laborer said he is happy to have the triplets join his family.

“They are a blessing from God. I will work like a man to take care of my family,” he said.
