President Uhuru Kenyatta is optimistic that the Supreme Court will rule in his favour in an election petition filed by his main challenger, NASA’s Raila Odinga.

Uhuru garnered 8, 203, 290 votes while Raila got 6, 762, 224 votes in the August 8 polls.

Raila has since filed a petition challenging the results saying they are flawed and do not represent the will of Kenyans.

On Tuesday, Uhuru told congregants at St Stephen’s ACK Cathedral along Jogoo road during the 39th memorial service of his father and Kenya’s founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta that he is hopeful for a favorable ruling.

“I know God will favour us,” said the President who had been accompanied by his family and Deputy President William Ruto.

The Supreme Court is expected to hear and determine the case in less than a fortnight from now.

The President called for unity of purpose among Kenyans.

“We are focused on one dream: Our ability to agree and disagree but to come together with a common objective of building prosperous nation.”

He said Kenya’s founding father built a Kenya where its citizens are expected to live and work in harmony.

“Mzee believed in us speaking in one voice, working together as a Kenyan people. We are celebrating the life of a man who dedicated his life towards attainment of independence.”

“Thirty nine years down the road I believe our forefathers would be proud of our achievements,” added he.
