Police officers in London ward, Nakuru County were on Friday treated to drama after three men who have been growing marijuana protested efforts to uproot it.

The three suspects Victor Kung’u Wainaina, Broddus Wainaina Kung’u, and Dennis Matete protested the invasion terming it unfair.

They defended themselves saying that the land on which the marijuana was grown was owned by a community-based organization that advocates for environmental conservation by growing trees.

“How come you do not know about the CBO and then there is no consultation, that is why I suspect there is some malice. Why is this signpost here? You can’t see we have a CBO here? And you have been informed about this CBO, we are planting trees here. You destroyed property of the CBO,” one of the suspects protested.

Another suspect called out the police officers telling them “unaharibu mali” much to the surprise f onlookers who accompanied police officers to the farm.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) said the marijuana is valued at Ksh15 million shillings.

Under Kenyan law, one is liable to Ksh1 million fine if caught smoking marijuana or a fine of up to three times its value if found in its possession.
