Following nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory by the Supreme Court, Jubilee Party supporters say they are ready to head to the ballot in November.

In Kikuyu, Kiambu County his supporters, though receiving the nullification news with mixed reaction, said they are ready to head to the ballot.

“I did not see such a ruling coming. It is a hard one but we respect the court but come November, very early in the morning, we will vote for Uhuru,” said a resident, James Muthee.

Another one, Andrea Kamau added: “The die is cast. We will vote for Uhuru once again and this time; give NASA a huge gap of more than 1.8 million votes.”

Others expressed their disappointment with the ruling saying the four Judges did not consider the impact such a ruling would have on the economy.

“The ruling means the country will be set to political campaign mood and this will affect the economy in one way or another. The Judges did not factor in this aspect,” lamented Samson Kamau, a resident in Thika.

The Constitution gives 60 days for fresh elections to be held.

Moments after the rulings, US, UK and 22 other foreign envoys in Kenya lauded the verdict by the Supreme Court.

In a joint statement, the foreign envoys in Kenya said the ruling was a show of “commitment to democracy” and “the Supreme Court’s decision today on the 2017 presidential election is an important moment for Kenya.”

They called on political parties to gear up for fresh elections.

“Kenya’s electoral institutions now must begin preparing for a new free, fair, credible, and peaceful presidential poll,” further read the statement as quoted by the Star.

The envoys include: “Robert F. Godec (US), Bruno Pozzi (EU), Ralf Heckner (Switzerland), Sara Hradecky (Canada), and Frans Makken (Netherlands), UK’s Nic Hailey, John Feakes (Australia), Harald Gunther (Austria), Julia Pataki (Romania), Javier García (Spain), and Belgium’s Hilde Van Inthoult.

Others are Antoine Sivan (France), Mauro Massoni (Italy) Constantinos Moatsos (Greece), Frantisek Dlhopolcvek (Slovakia), Luisa Fragoso (Portugal), David Pavlita (Czech Republic), Gavan Mc Cann (Ireland), and Sweden’s Fredrik Folkunger .
