The Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale has dismissed NASA’s call to sack 11 IEBC officials.
Duale in a press conference on Wednesday hit out at Raila Odinga telling him “IEBC does not work under anybody’s pleasure.”
On Tuesday, Raila demanded IEBC commissioner Ezra Chiloba be sacked alongside Commissioner Dr Adbdi Guliye.
Others are deputy commission secretary Betty Nyabuto and ICT director James Muhati; Immaculate Kassait, Sidney Namulungu and Moses Kipkogey.
But Duale told him “Professor Guliye was vetted by the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee and approved by the plenary; so he is not at IEBC at anybody’s pleasure.”
Raila on Tuesday during a rally in Kibera said failure to remove the 11 IEBC staff, there will be no elections on October 17.
“If they are not removed,” said Raila, “there will be no elections on October 17.”
Duale in response likened Raila’s statements in Kibera to “croaking of frogs that cannot deter camels, cattle and goats from drinking water.”
He added that Raila cannot remove commissioner Guliye from IEBC through a Kibera rally.
“Raila Odinga, if you want to remove professor Guliye, you will not remove him through a rally in Kibera.
“Bring a petition to the House where the Legal Affairs committee will deal with it (then) the President will form a tribunal,” Duale told Raila.
He was flanked by North Eastern MPs among them Aldas MP Adan Keynan, Isiolo woman representative Rehema Jaldesa and Ijara MP Sophia Abdi.
