The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) have gazetted Uhuru Kenyatta as President-elect together with his running mate William Ruto.
Should there be no election petition challenging Uhuru’s victory, Uhuru will be sworn into office after 14 days.
And as soon as he is sworn into office, the President first task will be to unite the country.
In a hearty message to the President-elect, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria called on the Jubilee Party leader to embark on uniting Kenyans.
He said with politics of division rocking the country before the elections, it is paramount that Uhuru sits with Raila Odinga and other leaders to heal this rift.
“President-elect Kenyatta’s first priority after being sworn in and after appointing his new cabinet should be to sit down with a wide spectrum of Kenyans including Raila Odinga and other NASA leaders,” said the MP in a facebook post.
He added leaders must reason together and get a way to take Kenya forward.
“We must reason together as brothers and sisters on how best to drive this nation forward.
“So Mr. President, expedite on your swearing in and appoint your cabinet as soon as possible. After that, it behoves upon you to reach out and talk to anyone and everyone as long as we unite our people of this great land, Kenya.”
Uhuru has severally reiterated his commitment towards unifying the country.
However, with political temperatures soaring so high in the past months, this agenda has not only proven unachievable but a mirage.
