Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni wa Muchomba has no regrets about ditching President Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp and joining Deputy President William Ruto’s camp.
Wa Muchomba’s defection came last week after meeting the DP at his Karen home.
On Sunday, she said her decision to follow the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) associated with the voice of the people.
She added that her beloved Jubilee Party which she defended and supported greatly failed her in its quest to merge with ODM ahead of the 2022 presidential race.
“Mt Kenya region is very angry with Uhuru. The region did not permit him to enter into a handshake deal with Raila Odinga. Therefore I have no regrets about ditching him for Deputy President William Ruto,” she stated.
The Kiambu Woman Rep added things on the ground says it all.
“In my mind, my thoughts as a politician tell me that I follow my people. My Kiambu people have shown me that they have moved from Uhuru Kenyatta and want William Ruto and they are angry,” she stated.
Speaking of Uhuru’s dalliance with opposition chief Raila Odinga, wa Muchomba said this is one of the reasons why she defected to UDA.
She said that Kiambu people are angry with Jubilee’s dalliance with Raila since the March 9 handshake.
“I don’t know his Excellency the President knows people are angry. People are angry because of the handshake; they say they were never involved. Also, this proposal that ODM merges with Jubilee people are angry.”
