Kiambu MCAs who moved to NASA could lose seats, says Speaker Gathii Irungu

Kiambu County Assembly Speaker Gathii Irungu says they will punish a bunch of MCAs from the county who decamped to NASA.

He warned that the MCAs risk losing their seats.

“If one defects to another party, they definitely lose their seat,” he said as told by the Star.

On Monday, 13 MCAs, both sitting and aspiring met NASA Chief Raila Odinga where they were welcomed to NASA.

Out of 88 MCAs at the Kiambu County Assembly, only four; Cecilia Wamaitha (Gatuanyaga), Philip Mubea (Cianda), Jackie Nungari (Bibirioni) and Ndiba Thandi (Uthiru) managed to get nominated back on a Jubilee ticket.

During a press Conference at Panafric Hotel before his Kiambu tour, Raila said the Kikuyu community in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s backyard w ill be happier with his stewardship.

He also said having received the 13 MCAs from Kiambu, he was driving a point that Kenyans should be aware no community is inferior or superior to the other.

“We must make Kenyans [understand] there are 43 different communities. None should feel inferior or superior to the other.”

Raila also promised goodies for Kiambu people should they vote for him.

He promised to have rural access roads well-built to ease transport of farm produce and enhance tea and coffee sectors.

He said despite having Uhuru come from the backyard, it has aged behind in farming which is a sign of poor leadership.

He also said he will come up with programs that will create employment opportunities for youths in Kiambu.
