Controversial Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has been summoned by the National Cohesion Integration Commission (NCIC) over fresh claims of hatespeech.

The lawmaker who is not new to hatespeech controversy reportedly uttered statements that endanger the life of Raila Odinga.

He is alleged to have called for the shooting of Raila Odinga over his calls to anti-IEBC protests during a Jubilee rally in Nakuru County.

NCIC through its secretary Hussein Mohammed wrote to the lawmaker asking him to appear to the commission to answer to the allegations.

In the letter as quoted by Nairobi News, Mohammed noted that Kuria uttered the statement below.

“Kama Raila Amollo Odinga ndiye atakuwa wa kwanza kuvunja sharia upigwe risasi kesho. Wananchi wa Nakuru kama mwizi angekuja hapa si askari wangempiga risasi? Kama Raila amevunja sheria si apigwe risasi? Apigwe na polisi. Na mimi sikusema, nitampiga risasi. Nasema watampiga risasi kwa sababu kazi ya askari ni ya kulinda wananchi.”

It loosely translates to English: “If Raila Amollo Odinga is the first to break the law he should be shot tomorrow. Nakuru residents, if a thief comes here, won’t the police shoot him down? If Raila has broken the law he shouldn’t he be shot? He should be shot by the police. And I did not say I will shot him personally. I said police will shoot him because their work is to maintain law and order.”

In September, the lawmaker was arrested and spent a night at Pangani Police Station over statements he had made calling for a “manhunt” of 70, 000 Kiambu residents who voted for Raila Odinga.
