Uhuru lives up to promise, rewards Nakuru ex-boss Mbugua with plum State House job

President Uhuru Kenyatta has rewarded former Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua with a plum State House job.

Uhuru during his campaigns asked Mbugua to shelve his bod after he was trounced by Lee Kinyanjui.

The President told the ex-governor him to support Kinyanjui and in turn, he would offer him a job befitting his status.

“He received his appointment letter and reported last week. It was a reward because he has been very loyal to the Jubilee government and has supported the President’s re-election bid,” a source who requested not to be named intimated to the Star.

He will be in-charge of Uhuru’s diary.

He ex-governor could not be reached for comment.

Before his venture into politics, he was a long serving officer in the forces.

He served as a district officer (D.O) for Marakwet in 1979 and later for Molo.

In 1981, he moved to the Administration Police Training College as the chief instructor.

He was later promoted to Administration Police Force deputy commandant in 1986, a position he held until 1992.

He was again appointed as the district officer for his Nakuru hometown and later for Maragua, a position he held until 1999.

He moved to Water ministry as deputy secretary from March 1999 until September 1999. He was promoted to senior deputy secretary in the Environment ministry a position he held for four years until August 2003.

In 2003, he returned to the force as AP Commandant and served until 2012 when he resigned to and ventured into politics.

He served as Nakuru’s first governor.
