Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Keriako Tobiko has been brought under fire over a directive to probe Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka on election boycott threat.

NASA co-principal and Ford Kenya Party leader Moses Wetangula chided the DPP saying his directive to DCI boss Ndegwa Muhoro to probe Raila and Kalonzo amounts to harassment.

He defended the NASA bosses saying their statements were not in any way illegal.

“There is no law that Raila and Kalonzo have broken. This is a condition that we want to repeat here that if the playing field remains bumpy with the referees playing against us then we will make sure there is no election.

“That [s] not a criminal offence, it’s an opinion that anybody in this country can make at the moment,” he said as Daily Nation quotes.

Raila has severally repeated that NASA will boycott October 26 repeat polls if reforms at the commission are not realized.

With the mantra “no reforms, no elections” the opposition has rallied calls for demonstration against IEBC.

Raila has said they will hold anti-IEBC protests twice every week until reforms they are pushing for at the IEBC are realized.

Wetangula said Tobiko is in “panic mode” which explains why he issued the probe directive against the two NASA principals.

“I advise [the] DPP to stop panicking and sending around mixed signals,” said Wetangula.
