Heightened demonstrations against the IEBC by NASA seem to be bearing fruits as CEO Ezra Chiloba is missing out on a new team to lead repeat elections.

The new team was unveiled yesterday by Chairman Wafula Chebukati.

He said officials who have indicted of bungling August 8 polls will not be allowed to take part in the repeat polls.

Chiloba though, retained his post as the chief accounting officer.

According to the Star, among those replaced are the commission’s communication manager Andrew Limo whose position will be taken up by Tabitha Mutemi.

Nancy Kariuki, Bernard Moseti and Silas Rotich were re-designated to three counties where they will coordinate the elections.

The new team to coordinate October 26 repeat polls is as follows:

  • Marjan Hussein – Project Team Leader
  • David Towett – Operations
  • Salome Oyugi – Legal and Compliance
  • Sydney Namulungu – Tallying Centres
  • Albert Gogo – Election Technology
  • Agatha Wahome – Finance, Procurement and Administration

This is the second team picked by Chebukati. An earlier team he picked was opposed by Jubilee Party.

NASA has been holding demos across major towns in the country pushing for Chiloba’s resignation.

But Chiloba has remained put and says he will not bow to pressure from opposition.

NASA says together with other 9 officials, they are responsible for bungling August 8 polls which were nullified by the Supreme Court.
