Youths from Bomet County have challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to appoint former county Governor Isaac Rutto in his Cabinet.
The youths said the Jubilee renegade has vast experience in maters devolution which comes in handy in Uhuru’s second term
They also said that he has proven he is a leader worth his salt after backtracking on his support for NASA and pledging support for Jubilee in the run-up to October 26 repeat elections.
“He should be brought on board,” said youth representative Sosthene Kipkemoi on Friday in Bomet according to the Star.
“Rutto’s proficiency in matters devolution during his time as a governor, and his experience in previous governments, would be of great impact to the Jubilee administration,” he added.
Kipkemoi insisted Rutto has the much needed political clout. He also his appointment to Cabinet is important because his charisma can be felt all through the country.
“Rutto is no longer at war with Ruto and Uhuru. He is now in Jubilee and he is the one person who can unite the people through his political influence.”
There were rumours that the former county boss has been offered a position in Cabinet. He has however refuted the claims.
“No one should pretend to be privy to what the president is up to with regard to forming his cabinet. It is his constitutional right and prerogative to nominate people he feels are qualified for the various positions,” said Rutto in a statement.
Before the August 8 polls, he was a co-Principal in the NASA coalition. He was a big critic of Jubilee administration.
However, after he was trounced by the Joyce Laboso, he toned down on NASA politics and shifted allegiance to Jubilee.
He pledged to support UhuRuto as well as Laboso whom he once criticized vehemently.
He has remained a rare figure in the public scene.
