Ruto will succeed Uhuru in 2022, naysayers in Rift Valley told

Deputy President William Ruto has been described as a “sharp” leader who is Kenya’s next President in the making, reports the Star.

“Ruto will easily succeed his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta come 2022,” said Dock Workers Union secretary general Simon Sang.

Sang spoke in Ruto’s defense from attacks by sections of politicians from his backyard and opposition as well.

He dismissed voices of dissent terming it as hot air.

He added that Ruto is still Rift Valley’s political kingpin.

“Times change. Moi’s time went with the wind. Ruto now calls the shots. He is charting the region’s political path and it is only beneficial if we support him,” he said.

Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi are some of the antagonizing voice in Rift Valley.

They have taunted Ruto’s 2022 ambition as a far-fetched dream.

Moi is in the race for Presidency in 2022 and his Bomet counterpart is also rumored to be in the race but he has remained non-committal about it.

But Sang said the DP has an upper hand since he has a huge backing and knows how to relate with voters.

“Other than Rutto and Gideon, all other foes will come back home and support the DP in his presidential quest.”

“On the other hand, the community will not allow divisive politics of ‘if you vote independents, we will not support Ruto up there.”
