Uhuru to Raila: Dare disrupt Thursday’s poll, I will deal with you

President Uhuru Kenyatta in his Mashujaa Day speech has called on Kenyans to shun leaders scheming to plunge the country to chaos ahead of repeat polls next week.

Uhuru was categorical that his government will not hesitate to act on any leader who instigates violence on Kenyans.

He said chaos disguised as freedom of expression will not be tolerated.

He added that Kenyans have a constitutional right to vote and leaders calling for election boycoot are in breach of the law.

Uhuru vowed to cushion Kenyans against painful happenings of 2007 2008 post election chaos.

“We vowed never to repeat the regrettable events that almost sunk us. We must, therefore, wake up and say “NO” to any misleading leader out to plunge Kenya into chaos. Kenyans have the choice and means of resisting such leaders and their evil schemes, and should do it now,” he said.

He said security apparatus are well informed and are ready to protect Kenyans come October 26.

“The law will apply equally to all regardless of social class, political position and no one will be spared. For those who thrive in chaos and relish anarchy, your days are numbered; the law will take its course and sanction you accordingly.”

The President’s warning was indirectly aimed at NASA boss Raila Odinga over his “no election” call.

Raila has severally repeated October 26 2 will not be an election day.

Uhuru also sounded a warning to the opposition over its sustained threats on the IEBC.

He said: “To those threatening and intimidating the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), its staff and other entities, this must cease forthwith. We must trust, nurture and safeguard our institutions to enable them to grow and perform their functions.”

Uhuru asked Kenyans to turn out in large numbers to exercise their democratic right.

“Your vote will be your contribution to the dream of our forefathers for a peaceful and prosperous Kenya. True Kenyan heroes will cast their votes on 26th this month. This is the only way we can make Kenya great and guarantee a great future for our children.”
