A Zimbabwean youth leader is the new admiration for Kenya’s opposition after revealing he traveled for over 200km in rainy condition just to meet Raila Odinga.
Raila jetted to Harare on Sunday to attend the burial of deceased Zimbabwe’s opposition leader organ Tsvangirai.
It his presence in the country that led Rukudzo Kahlari, a youth leader at YMCA Africa to brave heavy rainfall until he reached Hamunikwa village in Buhera where Tsvangirai was laid to rest and finally met Raila.
In great admiration, Rukudzo, described Raila in a Facebook post that has now gone viral as the “giant of democracy in Africa.”
He added that through the actions of Raila and Zimbabwe’s own Tsvangirai, he has learned of the power of sacrifice.
“From everything that took place, one thing I learned was the power of sacrifice. All these thousands came willingly with some traveling over 1, 000km from neighboring countries, walking for close to 10km on foot, some travelling 300km in open haulage trucks with rain hitting hard.”
Another Zimbabwean national, Cde Mageni Jakakaeta thanks his natives for warmly receiving Raila in the country.
“Thank you for giving the oracle, enigma and People’s President Raila Odinga a warm welcome. He’s a definition of democracy,” said Jakakaeta as quoted by Nairobi News.
